Here’s a new photoshop action I released recently over at Photoapnea.com. It’s lovingly called “Wash Me in the Mood”. Sounds all fancy and romantic, eh?
I recently launched Photoapnea.com to share various photography and photoshop resources. Over time I’m hoping to release more PS actions, compositing and lighting tutorials, etc. For my first video I put together a deconstruction of sorts for a piece from my Saints series. It talks through the process from the initial sketch to final production at a 20,000ft level. I plan on releasing more specific tutorials soon. Let me know what you think. I’m looking for all the feedback I can get.
Runtime: 46min
Software: Photoshop

Add a handful of blue, a pinch of noise, a twist of contrast, call out the shadows and cool it down. A photoshop action called “Noise in the Cool Shadows” is what you’re left with. Hope you enjoy it.
In addition to the group of adjustment layers, you’ll also find a gradient fill layer. Take a few minutes and play around with that one a bit. Lot’s o’ options. The download is available here.
And as always If you have any questions at all please catch me on twitter or shoot me an email. And spread the word if you dig it.

Hey all you good peeps. I am working on some compositing and post production tutorials. However, before I jump in fully I could really use your feedback. I have put together a quick 4 question [photo tutorial] survey and would love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks a ton!

I’ve always loved the look that is achieved using Polaroid 669 film. There’s something about the color tones, creamy highlights and lack of contrast that adds so much character in addition to the vintage feel. Wanting to reproduce certain characteristics of the 669 look I created a series of photoshop adjustment layers that I compiled together into this photoshop action. Being that it uses adjustment layers, this should also allow you to tweak it wherever you’d like so as to fit the particular image you’re working with.
This is in no way meant to reproduce the film’s look, but rather influenced and inspired by it. That being the case it only seemed right to call it “Creamy Inspired 669″. The free download is available here.
I hope you enjoy using it. If you have any questions at all please catch me on twitter or shoot me an email. And spread the word if you dig it.
