Bring on the Questions

Posted on | April 17, 2008 | No Comments

As I sat in a client meeting yesterday it hit me again how much I love solving problems for those that I work with, or better yet, partner with.  I find that when a client says they have a hurdle to overcome that there is this intensity that sets in on both sides to find the answer.  That being the case I got me to thinking about this blog and what I can offer here.

I would love to answer questions.  That’s it.  Plain and simple.  If you have any question about strategy, creative  direction, or online marketing, I’d love a chance at answering it.  Simply shoot me a question by dropping a comment on this entry or sending me an email at colethirteen (at) gmail (dot) com, and I will do my best to answer it.  Bring on the questions.

(Note: I, Josh Cole, promise not to use your name in the posts unless you ask me to.)

Gone

Posted on | October 1, 2007 | No Comments

I recently created “Gone” for the Tears of God art show in Nashville on September 29th, 2007. The show is to benefit the efforts of various organizations in putting an end to human slavery and trafficking. Each of these prints are a bit different from the other as the major portion is printed and the X is done by hand in acrylic. Some of these prints are still available for purchase. Contact me for further details.

Published in JPG Magazine, Issue 11

Posted on | August 2, 2007 | No Comments

Issue 11 is out on shelves at Barnes & Noble, Borders and other popular bookstores. Beyond the fact that JPG Magazine is full of photos from some great photographers from around the world, this issue is a little extra cool for me. Out of 11,000 entries I was one of 17 photographers published in this issue under the “Are You Ready To Rock” section for one of Lynden photos. So if you get a chance, give it a check on the magazine stand. Thanks to all of you that showed your support and voted to get it in front of the judges. And if you have a moment, give their site a visit as well. A lot of good stuff to be seen. JPG Magazine Website

Baby Morte Sculpt: Part I

Posted on | June 16, 2007 | No Comments

My pops and me have been working on a collaboration based on my illustration, “Baby Morte”. Here’s the first shot of the rough. Next up is a little scaling up of the head, some changes to the skull, hands and a couple small changes to the body. Can’t wait to implement the “secret plan” when it’s complete.

Locked In

Posted on | May 31, 2007 | No Comments

We’ve all experienced the feel of being locked out of our house. But how about the feeling of being locked in? Ok, maybe not locked in but definitely unable to go anywhere. I went outside to snag a shirt, for Sherron, that needed to get shipped out tomorrow and noticed that the garage door was not closed all the way. So I went ahead and hit that green glowing button that signals full closure of that ol’ garage door. Shortly after came a nasty creaking sound, a large shift in the framing of our garage door and then a little snap. Ok, a BIG snap. The door came to a screeching halt and after much slamming, pushing and grunting, the thing would NOT budge. Then came that nasty feeling. Yes, that feeling of being locked in. Not to mention I was also getting ready for a trip to Chicago in the morning for a friends art opening and both our cars and myself are stuck in the garage. Now comes the feeling of no transportaion. AHCKK. Man was I hacked. So next thing was to try to fix it myself. Bad idea. I almost cut off a finger, and nearly killed myself thanks to a piece of sheet metal whizzing by my head at about 50 miles an hour. It’s amazing what a spring loaded metal wire can do with a piece of sheet metal when it snaps. But after an hour of doing a horrible job of fixing the door (probably better referred to as destroying the door) I finally got the thing open and Sherron pulled both cars out. Whew, it’s finally over. Here’s to life happening and putting a little money into the wallet of a “garage door mechanic”.

Baby Morte

Little Baby Morté (pronounced Mor-tay). Is this little tyke having a good day or bad day? You decide. An Unhappy Misfortune? Misunderstood? A Comfy Place? Perhaps.

Miami Ink’s Chris Garver Wears a Josh Cole Design

Posted on | April 10, 2007 | No Comments

I awoke early a couple weeks ago to a pleasant surprise. Several friends had written and said that they were watching Miami Ink the night before, on A&E, and saw Chris Garver wearing one of my shirts that I designed for 70 Star 7 Industries. Of course that was one night I hadn’t set the DVR to record the show. But thank goodness for good ol’ iTunes. A week or so later I was able to download the episode, called “Kat’s Cooking”. Here’s a shot from the show. Chris wore it for a good 30% of the show. Thanks Mr. Garver. It is much appreciated.
